At the end of my busy week I decided to watch Barcelona vs Baskonia, an Euroleague Round 20 match. Watching the game on TV and searching on mobile, I discovered some interesting things.
♦️ Barcelona has many injured players this season and this is probably the reason they are not playing a good basketball.
♦️ Barcelona fans don’t like the coach Georgios Bartzokas. Is he set to be sacked? I don’t know, but we have to follow this affair.
♦️ As some of my facebook friends suggested me, the town of Baskonia is not called simply Vitoria, but Vitoria-Gasteiz. Vitoria is the spanish name, while Gasteiz is the basque name. It’s better to be always careful about this topic. So, since now, I will always talk about Vitoria-Gasteiz and not anymore Vitoria.
♦️ But what I really found interesting is the story of the Massacre of 3 March 1976 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, when, in a day of strike, the workers were shot by the police. This resulted in 5 dead workers and 150 injured with gunshot wounds. I didn’t know anything about this story. I am set to search for further news about this sad page of the european history. By the way, the featured image of this post is by Zarateman.
Anyway, as you know yesterday night, Friday, Jan 27, Baskonia destroyed Barcelona as you can read in eurohoops.com. It’s funny the two teams will meet again on Sunday.
