Ich bin ein Berliner

My bookmaker still doesn’t publish any bets for NBA games, so I look at Euroleague matchday 6 scheduled for this week.

ALBA BERLIN vs MONTEPASCHI SIENA

Alba Berlin (2-3) started the Euroleague season winning 2 games (one in Siena in the 1st matchday), then the Sasa Obradovic’s band lost 3 in a row. Anyway Alba can still get a place in Top 16 as the best 4 of any group are promoted to the 2nd phase. Having won in Siena to open the season, a win Thursday would not only give Alba third place with four games left, but advantages in any future tie between them.

Montepaschi Siena (2-3) lost the first 3 games, than won against Chalon and Asseco, the two worst team of the group. As you are not used to follow European basket, there is something I have to explain to you. This italian club is suffering because of the financial problems of the main sponsor, the bank Monte dei Paschi di Siena. Few months ago the Italian government saved the bank, of course using money of Italian taxpayer. I am Italian, I live in Italy and I am an Italian taxpayer, so I am rage hard against our Prime Minister Mario Monti, who spend my money, not for useful things for the people, but to support this bank!. An Alba Berlin win on Thursday night would make me happy. I will be happy also netx April when, finally this stupid Italian government will go home.

By the way, the match is broadcasted live by TV sat channel Sportitalia 1.

A night in Florida

Two interesting games scheduled for tonight – Tuesday, November 13 – in NBA.

In EASTERN CONFERENCE the New York Knicks (4-0) travel to Florida to meet the Orlando Magic (2-4). By the way, the Knicks are averaging 104.5 points and have allowed 87.5. Good luck, Orlando.

In WESTERN CONFERENCE everyone is looking at the Steples Center where the Los Angeles Lakers (3-4), still without the new coach Mike D’Antoni, face the San Antonio Spurs (6-1). In my opinion the club have not managed in the right way this change on the Lakers bench. D’Antoni is the right man for the yellow and violet team, but his arrival should have been managed in another way. Anyway, this is only my opinion.

Something to buy: the Panini Stickers of NBA 2012/13.

Something to listen: 1043 The Fan, the Denver sports radio station I listen everyday.

See you tomorrow for my betting tips.

What about the Hawks?

There are 8 NBA games scheduled for tonight, but my favourite bookmaker offers odds only for 6 games. Stop trying to understand how things work in Italy and let’s think about betting: I choose Atlanta @ Portland for my first bet of the week.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS vs ATLANTA HAWKS

The Trail Blazers (2-4) are the worst team in the Northwest Division with a bad 1-2 home record and 3 consecutive games lost. Their problem is simple to understand: they are one of the worse defensive teams in the league. Usually teams playing against Portland score more than 100 points!

The Hawks (2-3) play the second game of a four-game West Coast road trip that began Sunday with 89-76 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.

My bookmaker sees Portland as favourite tonight, I have a different opinion. I back Atlanta not because the Hawks are strong, but because the Trail Blazers are weak! Anyway, stake 4/100 is enough for this game.

Starting a new NBA week

Happy Monday to everyone, let’s check NBA standings before starting this week’s bets.

In EASTERN CONFERENCE we find a wondeful 4-0 record for the New York Knicks, with the Miami Heat with a nice 5-2 record. The questions is: do you see an Eastern Conference Finals Series with New York againts Miami? I don’t, as, in this Conference, I like vey much the Philadelphia 76ers this season.

In WESTERN CONFERENCE the San Antonio Spurs have a good 6-1 with a wonderful 3-0 at home. The second best is another Southwest Division team: the Memphis Grizzlies with 5-1. My Utah Jazz register a 3-4, a record that must be improved as soon as possible.

Something to read: the analysis of bleacher report on the bad start of the Detroit Pistons (0-7).

Something to buy: as you are in Italy, I suggest to buy the wonderful Rivista NBA, November issue.

See you later for the first bets of the week.

Saturday night in NBA

We have 9 NBA games scheduled for this tonight. After recording a bad 3-7 tips, I look at Golden State vs Denver.

GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs DENVER NUGGETS

Warriors (3-3) have a problem: center Andrew Bogut will not play in any of the team’s games over the  next 7-10 days in an effort to continue to strengthen his surgically repaired left ankle. The absence of Bogut is the most important thing to underline before betting on this match. Read this MercuryNews.com article about Bogut, just in order to understand how important this center is.

Nuggets (3-3) have a 3 wins streak and, as NBA.com reports, they looks to have find their groove.

I back Denver tonight, anyway, don’t follow me, as my record in the last 10 bets is a poor 3-7.
